I had a lot of fun researching anglerfish for this project. The ones pictured here are all members of the family Oneirodidae, or Dreamers, and I've drawn them as accurately as I could manage. Of course in reality the Dreamers would give each other a considerably wider berth!
The original square GIF is infinitely tileable both vertically and horizontally, as you might see if you peer into the darkness in the background of this very page.
